Titanium dioxide pigment producers and specialty chemical plants wash titanium hydrosol repeatedly to remove soluble salts and impurities before calcination, and conventional drum filters struggle with the slow filtering slurry and fine particle size. HUADING LW300 titanium dioxide hydrosol washing decanter centrifuge separator replaces or supplements vacuum drum filters in the washing train, separating the washed solids from the salt bearing mother liquor in a fully enclosed centrifugal washer that needs no filter cloth. The compact machine processes the slip streams of small and medium TiO2 lines and pilot plants, providing the high washing efficiency needed to reach pigment grade purity.

In the washing duty, hydrosol is fed to the rotating bowl where the titanium dioxide solids settle rapidly under 3250 g of force. Wash water can be introduced through the machine so that the solids are displaced and rinsed as they travel along the screw conveyor toward the discharge, achieving efficient salt removal in a single pass. The clarified mother liquor overflows for salt recovery or recycling. Because the decanter operates continuously and automatically, it stabilizes the washing stage, reduces manual labor and eliminates the cloth cleaning downtime that limits filter based washing plants.

Applications

The LW300 washes titanium hydrosol in sulfate process pigment plants, and dewaters hydrous titanium dioxide before bleaching and calcination. The same machine separates solids in zirconium, silica and specialty oxide hydrosol processes, and dewaters reaction slurries in fine chemical and catalyst manufacturing. In pigment lines the decanter can be arranged in counter current washing trains with multiple machines in series to reach the required salt removal, or installed as a single polishing stage ahead of the rotary calciner.
