Microalgae Harvesting Dewatering Decanter Centrifuge LW250 Chlorella Spirulina Biomass Concentration System

Microalgae cultivation for nutraceuticals, animal feed and biofuel faces one stubborn bottleneck: harvesting biomass from dilute culture containing less than one percent solids. HUADING LW250 microalgae harvesting dewatering decanter centrifuge separator concentrates chlorella, spirulina and other algae cultures to a thick paste in a single mechanical step, eliminating the need for chemical flocculation that contaminates the biomass. The compact 250 mm bowl machine suits pilot plants, small commercial farms and research facilities, processing 1 to 3 cubic meters of culture per hour and producing an algae paste that flows directly to drying or further extraction.

The decanter approach outperforms membrane filtration, which blinds quickly on algae, and centrifugation in tubular machines, which requires frequent manual cleaning. Culture is pumped continuously into the bowl, and the 2710 g force sediments the cells against the wall while the screw conveyor delivers the paste out of the machine. The clarified water, depleted of algae, can be recycled to the cultivation ponds with nutrients replenished. HUADING supports this duty with food grade material options and gentle process settings that keep the harvested cells intact for high value phycocyanin and omega 3 extraction.

Key Features
  • Chemical free harvesting: Mechanical concentration avoids flocculant residues, preserving the clean label status demanded by the supplement and food market.
  • Continuous operation: The decanter runs around the clock, harvesting culture as it matures instead of batching through settling tanks and losing biomass to decay.
  • Gentle on cells: Low shear feed acceleration and optimized conveyor speed keep fragile algal cells intact, protecting phycocyanin and lipid quality.
  • Compact research scale: The small footprint and 7.5 to 11 kW power requirement suit pilot greenhouses, photobioreactor farms and university facilities.
  • Water recycling: Clarified culture water returns to the pond system, reducing makeup water demand and nutrient discharge in open raceway operations.
  • Simple cleaning: Quick opening hood and accessible internals allow the rapid washdown needed between different algae strains or production batches.
  • Scalable platform: HUADING supplies larger decanter models for commercial scale algae farms, allowing process data from the LW250 to scale directly.

Applications

The LW250 harvests chlorella, spirulina, haematococcus and nannochloropsis cultures for dietary supplements, natural food colorants, aquaculture feed and biofuel research. It concentrates algae from raceway ponds, tubular photobioreactors and fermentation style heterotrophic cultivation before spray drying or supercritical extraction. The same machine dewaters yeast cream, bacterial fermentation broths and other fine microbial suspensions in biotechnology pilot plants. For algae farms planning capacity expansion, HUADING provides the complete range of decanter sizes together with process support, so the harvesting line can grow from pilot scale to commercial tonnage on a proven mechanical platform.

Packaging and Quality Assurance

The LW250 is factory tested with dynamic balancing and a water load trial, and food grade versions are supplied with material certificates for all contact parts. The machine is packed in a plywood export case with internal steel bracing, desiccant and full protection for the control panel. Documentation includes the general arrangement drawing, foundation plan, electrical wiring diagram, operation and maintenance manual and spare parts list. HUADING offers commissioning supervision, operator training and remote support, with a twelve month warranty. Spare parts for the screw conveyor, bearings and seals are stocked for fast dispatch to algae facilities worldwide, minimizing downtime during the critical harvest season.
